I found a great report on wikibon around the NoSQL and Hadoop predicted market share for 2012-2017…
This report shows MarkLogic ahead of the pack with 13% of the market, followed by Cloudera (of Hadoop fame) at 10%, and IBM at 9%.
MongoDB only came third, with 7% of market share.
Note that this market share analysis is on combined software and services revenue. I was particular interested that MongoDB was so far behind in percentage terms, and even more amazed that Oracle was way down with only 4% of revenue in the market.
The report is fascinating. I encourage you all to have a read:-
My favourite chart of them all though is the last one, ‘revenue per dollar of funding through 2012’. Looks like MarkLogic is great value for money! (I should declare that as a MarkLogic employee I have share options myself in this private company.)
